If you had to draw in brief the greatness of Milano, it would look a lot like Piazza del Duomo. Some of the most admired sights of the city are indeed at a stone’s throw and it’s incredibly easy to get to the square. You can in fact just hop on the underground from the train station or from your hotel. You’ll be amidst palaces, shopping avenues, and grand restaurants in a flick.

Highlights at Piazza del Duomo

Walk up and down the broad Piazza del Duomo to observe the overall beauty and infinite detail of the Cathedral. Moreover, on your left is the shopping mausoleum Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, also a gateway to La Scala opera house. A lot more historical places overlook the piazza, including the Royal Palace of Milan, the Museo del Novecento and an equestrian statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II.
